I've lived at the hotel for 4 years. I first moved into the hotel to finish editing a video tape; I thought I would stay a week and ended up staying 4 years. I own my own production company called Bleu Productions (www.bleuproductions.com) We produce high-end fetish films; high quality art films, very Felliniesque. Some titles are The Black Glove, The Elegant Spanking, and Box of Laughter. "Black Glove" is an autobiographical piece that deals with fantasy in terms of abduction and sensual torture, vulnerablity, medical instruments, bondage and female erotism. My market is mostly male, but when I make my films there is no gender in mind. I sell them mostly through the Internet. I direct, produce, and star in them. At present I'm working on a series of 4 fetish films. I think I'm one of the only female directors dealing with fetish films. I've done 5 films so far, but I'm looking for investors. I'm really trying to create a new genre in Female erotism. My work has been shown all around the world, including at the Whitney and MOMA.

I connected with a lot of other artists in the building that have supported me on an emotional level. It is an artistic family here, an artistic community. I think the history of the hotel attracts people. I had heard a lot of stories about it. I have felt an energy here--maybe accumulated artistry, or ghosts. Everyone talks about the energy of the hotel. It's kinda like one of those creepy movies where the building is alive.

Once I woke up at 3:00am and there was a fire next door. I nearly died of smoke inhalation--the fire was coming up through the wall. They gave me a room to stay in, but they charged me.

I've run into a few famous people at the hotel: Allen Ginsberg, Grace Jones, Herbert Hunky.
